Contract Positions: Math Subject Matter Experts
EdGate is looking for Math Subject Matter Experts to provide third party high quality instructional materials, suitability, and standards alignment reviews using rubrics.
Position Duties:
- Review of alignment of Open Educational Resources (OER) content to K-12 standards
- Provide third party high quality instructional materials (HQIM) review and provide structured feedback of quality using established rubrics with justifications
- Provide third party suitability review with structured feedback of materials using established rubrics with justifications
- Participate in calibration sessions to ensure consistent application of criteria
- Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards
- Provide validation of state standards alignments to TEKS with structured feedback using established rubrics with justifications
- Knowledge of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)
- Provide validation of state standards alignments to ELPS with structured feedback using established rubrics with justifications
- Evaluate standards gap analysis and make recommendations for reducing gap
- Knowledge of the Texas Multilingual Learners
- Attend internal meetings to support information on project progress
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field from an accredited institution required
- Minimum 5 years of classroom experience in Texas public schools
- Ability to apply structured rubrics objectively
- Deep familiarity with TEKS and grade-level instructional practices
- Subject-matter expertise in Mathematics (K–12) with emphasis in grades 6-8
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking
- Strong analytical and written communication skills
- Expert knowledge of educational curriculum standards, frameworks, and learning objectives
- Knowledge of hierarchical data structures
- Demonstrated technical experience with knowledge/application of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on MS Excel and the ability to create spreadsheets and manipulate data competently
- Ability to work independently to complete projects and work as part of a team
- Ability to anticipate problems, identify workable alternatives, and communicate effectively to achieve a desirable outcome
- Detail-oriented
- Maintain established production schedule and meet identified timelines for each project i.e. number of items per hour or number of lesson plans per week
- Personal integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Unbiased Objectivity
- Adhere to Cybersecurity Best Practices
Desired Skills:
- Bilingual professional fluent in English and Spanish
- Familiarity with digital review platforms and workflow tools
- Content development expertise
- Proficiency in Smartsheets and collaborative platforms
Hours: This is a remote contract position. The work will scale up at peak times and scale down at non-peak times.
