Contract Position: K–12 Academic Standards Formatting (Arabic Language)

EdGate is looking for a standards specialist to support the formatting, verification, and mapping of K–12 academic standards, with a focus on translating content into Arabic and ensuring it is ready for ingestion into a centralized repository.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Download and prepare records from Word, Excel, PDF, and other document formats for formatting and repository ingestion.
  • Format records accurately into provided MS Word and Excel templates for repository upload.
  • Compare multiple sets of standards to identify overlaps, differences, and equivalencies across documents and jurisdictions.
  • Confirm equivalency by mapping standards across sets, documenting rationale for equivalency decisions, and flagging ambiguous or non equivalent items for Standards Manager review.
  • Add metadata to formatted records based on equivalency comparisons, including source jurisdiction; grade band; strand; performance indicator codes; equivalency mappings; confidence level; and any required crosswalk identifiers.
  • Research international standards requirements to identify relevant international frameworks, terminology differences, and compliance or alignment considerations; incorporate findings into equivalency mapping and metadata recommendations for the repository.
  • Verify accuracy by comparing formatted records to original source documents and using other verification methods to detect and correct errors.
  • Track, monitor, and communicate progress regularly to the Standards Manager; update work queues and promptly communicate risks, impacts to deadlines, or scope changes.
  • Deliver formatted documents as they are completed, following the agreed priority order and timeline.
  • Provide assistance with other data entry duties and ad hoc tasks as requested by the Standards Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent minimum; Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Technical skills: Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF tools; comfortable with text cleanup, table formatting, spreadsheet functions, and metadata entry.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to compare complex documents, identify equivalencies and differences, and make consistent mapping decisions.
  • Research skills: Experience conducting targeted research on standards frameworks, including international standards, and translating findings into practical metadata or mapping guidance.
  • Attention to detail: Demonstrated ability to format and proof large volumes of text with minimal errors.
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication; ability to document equivalency decisions and report status.
  • Arabic fluency required: Reading and writing fluently in Arabic to accurately transcribe, compare, format, and verify Arabic language standards.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience formatting educational standards or curriculum documents for repositories or learning management systems.
  • Experience creating or applying metadata schemas and performing crosswalks or equivalency mapping between standards sets.
  • Familiarity with educational standards structures such as grade bands, strands, and performance indicators.
  • Experience with quality control processes for document conversion and data ingestion.
