A: EdGate’s ExACT Alignment Tool allows you to produce correlation reports for your content in several formats. We have also created a basic steps document and tutorial video to assist clients with navigating this convenient tool. Please visit the following:

Q: Does EdGate include “future” educational standards for correlations and/or standards licensing?

A: By default, future standards are not included. EdGate’s policy is to provide the current year’s state standards; however, to help our clients prepare their content for future standards, we are happy to offer future standards as needed/requested.  Although these future standards are considered supplemental to the current standards, clients can choose to pay a one-time fee to add future standards to their profile or swap the current standards for the future standards.  Future standards will automatically replace current standards towards the end of summer prior to their implementation.

Q: Does EdGate include any Pre-Kindergarten standards?

A: EdGate has included the National Head Start standards for Ages 3-5 (Early Childhood grade) and also PreK standards (PreK grade) for other subject areas as identified by each state. • Social Studies: National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), and National Standards for Civics and Government (NSCG)
  • World Languages: American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)

Q: Does EdGate include “draft” educational standards for correlations and/or standards licensing?

A: By default, these standards are not included. The policy at EdGate is to provide and correlate the most current standards which have been adopted, posted and implemented for the current school year, however in keeping our promise to support our partners, we are happy to offer draft standards as needed/requested. There is a one-time fee to add and maintain them in our repository as they are considered supplemental to the standards offered as part of our program.

Draft standards are generally posted by a state for a length of time to get public input and feedback before presenting a finalized version to a State Board of Education for adoption. These draft versions often go through a series of revisions before becoming officially adopted and implemented which is why they are not included in our repository by default. We do however recognize the need for clients to have these standards regardless of whether they are responding to the demands of an RFP, for content development or for districts getting ahead of the game and having their teachers get familiar with the upcoming set of standards; therefore, we will add draft standards as requested.

EdGate charges a one-time fee to add and maintain them in our repository, so if you find a need to include a state's draft standards, please contact your account representative or project manager

Q: Does EdGate include the ESL, EDL or any other standards that apply to English as a Second Language?

A: The EdGate Standards Repository subject name is English Language Learners for standards in this subject area. Presently, all 50 U.S. States + District of Columbia contain standards for ELL. The following states have adopted the WIDA English Language Development standards for use in their ELL programs: AL, AK, CO, DC, DE, GA, HI, IL, KY, ME, MD, MA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OK, PA, RI, SD, UT, VT, VA, WI, WY)

Q: What are the assessment standards and how did EdGate gather this information?

A: State assessments vary from state to state; however, typically the assessments cover Reading, Writing, Mathematics, and Science (some have Social Studies, but not all states do).  The grades for testing also vary from state to state, but typically Reading, Writing, and Mathematics are tested for Grades 3-8, and a high school grade or grade range depending on the state.  Science is typically tested at an elementary, middle school, and high school grade (i.e. 5, 7, 11).

EdGate developed the assessment standards to assist our clients to know what states are targeting on their assessments. The term “Assessment Standards” is what EdGate created to differentiate the state academic standards in the repository from the standards that are actually assessed. We researched each state assessment to determine what is being tested and what grades were tested.  By reviewing state test blueprints or released test items, EdGate was able to decipher from state documentation what standards are intended for student assessments. The Assessment Standards represent what each state has outlined for their student assessments and only display for the appropriate grade, subject, and standard that are specifically referenced by the state on the test blueprints or released test items.

The EdGate Standards Repository warehouses all 50 U.S. State + the District of Columbia assessment standards for Language Arts and Mathematics, as well a Science and Social Studies for states where applicable.
